Itinerary In Detail
Your day in the country begins with a pick-up from either our office or your hotel. We begin with a mini-van drive of about 40 minutes to Ban Suan Luang – a village where a number of ethnic minority groups live. We then walk to the Khan River and take a slow boat along the river to visit the Khmu village of Ban Huay Yen.
Then it is a climb up the mountain through rice fields – fields of an unbelievable rich green – to the Hmong village of Ban Tinpha perched on the mountain top. This is small village is home to only 28 families and has wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. You can look down on fields of rice, maize and bananas. You won’t believe how many different colours of green there are. Relax in a small Hmong house and enjoy the view while having lunch. Then it’s downhill all the way to another Khmu village - Ban Huay Fai before going onto Tad Sae Waterfall. This beautiful natural spot is perfect for relaxing and taking a cool dip before the boat picks you up to take you across to the Lao Loum village of Ban Anh. Here the mini-van will meet you for your drive back to Luang Prabang. The day will feel too all too short.
Please note:
Trekking in Laos does not mean you have to run through jungle all day long. But trekking in Laos means getting away from so called civilization. Prepare yourself for the things that you will experience and learn on a trekking tour in Laos.
